For me, these balances are akin to the Tibetan Buddhist art form of making mandalas. Like mandalas, they are meant to be temporary expressions - a piece of beauty captured for just a moment in time.
I like to make these balances as precarious as possible. Some last for hours or days, but others stand only long enough for me to photograph them and then topple in the next wind. I find many metaphors to life in the tenuous nature of these artworks - they are beautiful but often only fleetingly so.
